I was a little girl alone in my little world who dreamed of a little home for me.
I played pretend between the trees, and fed my houseguests bark and leaves, and laughed in my pretty bed of green.
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing.
I had a dream.
Long walks in the dark through woods grown behind the park, I asked God who I'm supposed to be.
The stars smiled down on me, God answered in silent reverie. I said a prayer and fell asleep.
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest tree.
I had a dream.
Now I'm old and feeling grey. I don't know what's left to say about this life I'm willing to leave.
I lived it full and I lived it well, there's many tales I've lived to tell. I'm ready now, I'm ready now, I'm ready now to fly from the highest wing.
I had a dream
***
We have a dream.
(I heard this song in the Bride Wars long ago, but not knowing who sings it. I didn't even bother searching it. I think it's fate that brings this song back to me, when I'm facing some questions in life. I was introduced by someone to this singer, and surprisingly I found her singing this.
Life is full of miracles.)
As you said, we can't see the future because it's too bright! :)
Sometimes I find that lyrics are distracting. So, sometimes I would like to have pure music. Classical music is good. OST by Hans Zimmer is also good for me. Now I found this band too: This Will Destroy You.
It's a bit inspiring. Hmm.. and.. I just don't know how to describe the feeling towards them. Although some parts of the music are kinda annoying after repeating for over and over again, and also a bit tired for the over-inspiring-spirit.
Anyway, check them out! :D It's good overall, especially for the lyricless part :-O
I think you would like soothing music more, so here I introduce this album - Should| Like a Fire without Sound - which although the my favourite, but I like it that it could calm me, I like it especially when I'm sitting on a bus looking outside the window, I like it brings me the feeling of having a road trip ;D Oh, it sounds like some films' OST too. This reminds me of one film - Nick's and Norah's Infinite Playlist - which I think you might be interested in too. Kind of like indie film/light movie to go. Not a big film for sure. (Tho' the ratings are not high.) (Most importantly, I found it under the indie music section. Lol.)
Too bad that Youtube doesn't have many videos of them. I only found this. I can't share more :(
Back with music! I want to share some albums that I've bought randomly few days ago!
One by one.
Today's sharing: Cat's Eyes. (I confess that this was introduced by the cashier in the record store, when I'm purchasing the Cocorosie's and Lykke Li's old albums, I asked: Do you have any other new songs which is nice to introduce? I want some weird music, something like this *referring to Cocorosie and Lykke Li*) So here it's. The Cat's Eyes I chose after he showed me few artists.
I love the variations of music they made, which surprise me, which is no logic, no particular style, not boring at all!
(Live in Vatican? So cool! Some say it's not Vatican, but it's, in my impression. Not sure. Anyways, definitely a nice music.)
Just so excited to share what I've found, good music is always what I'm hungry for. Anyway, sorry if it's outdated.
I think I need someone to stop me from clicking on her videos.
She is so freaky yet so perfect.
Even in a toilet :-O
Sometimes I find myself smiling to myself while scanning through the comments on you-tube.
I saw this for this video: "Bathrooms are known for nice acoustics." - Jamesscalise
Cute.
Clicked on her song in editors' pick in Rolling Stone - I Follow Rivers.
Not too bad. The cover of the album attracts me too. Dark and mysterious.
So I went you-tube more about her.
I am so happy to meet this pretty voice, she was described in Rolling Stone as: an ingenious oddball.
Anyway, I was so excited to share this, until... I heard this song:
I thought, it sounds familiar, but I couldn't remember from which movie I heard this.
I scrolled down the page, and I saw this comment:
"I'm glad I was a fan of Lykke Li before Twilight. :]" - Tekkiee
Then, I mumbled inside my heart: What the hell. People might think that I like her because of Twilight.
So, I want to clarify that I am not a big fan of Twilight, beside Jacob.
Anyway, who cares.
The main point here is Lykke Li.
Great one for me to escape from the reality.
(ps: I couldn't post the original MV for the 2nd and 3rd video. I highly recommend that you go youtube search for the original video. Different feeling to listen it with the videos, especially for the I'm Good, I'm Gone )
I am a little addicted to this band - Hole. The vocal is Courtney Love, who was the wife of Kurt Cobain from Nirvana. (Some rumours said that she killed her husband :-O so they dislike her. But, again, who fucking cares about the gossips.) Anyway, I really like the first video, which makes me feel young again. Haha!
Let's rock and roll again! Feel the life! Feel young! Woohoo! I really need to feel that again, I am feeling so old so dull so lack of motivation now :(
Hey try this UK band - The Vaccines.
(Know this from Cheuk Wan Zhi's blog)
Not sure if you like this kind of music or not but I have repeated the first video [Lack of Understanding] for many times while I was reading and blogging, unknowingly.
Check the blog below, another nice pieces. I think I am hunger for good music.
Cheuk Wan Chi: cocorosie: "cocorosie are two sisters, bianca 'coco' and sierra 'rosie' casady, who were born and raised in the united states. they started making ..."
You probably know the Juno song, yes, from the movie Juno. Today, not talking about movie, but an indie band - Moldy Peaches. (Alright, there are some discussions about the genre of the band - indie, indie rock, antifolk, blah blah blah - which I don't really give a damn as I'm not really sure about the diffrence. All I know is that the music is amazing, and that's enough.)
I don't know, but I think this gonna be a long post because I have so much to share! I feel like the passion is burning inside my heart after listening to so many good songs, beautiful unique voices and original indie music. Too much to be shared.
Well, cut the craps. The Moldy Peaches is founded by Adam Green and Kimya Dawson, both of them are talented and despite their cooperation, their own musics are also refreshing and different.
First of all, here I present the Moldy Peaches cover for the 'Juno Song'- named Anyone Else But You.
I Forgot. No, not I forgot but yes, that is the title of the song - I Forgot. (I saw one of the comments and which makes me smiled to myself: "the ten seconds of noises at the end surprised me.....but then again, they're the moldy peaches. They can make whatever kinds of noises they want.")
And I found that their lyrics are so ... funky? I don't know what word should I use to express my feeling. I just feel that they are very different.
Nothing Came Out. I feel like they are in a conversations instead of singing. The feeling is so unusual.
Now, let's turn to Kimya Dawson, her voice is so pure. I feel relaxing by listening to her voice. So Nice So Smart.
The Competition. Her lyrics are so cute. It's like she's just telling us her dairy story, like 'I'm reading, I'm singing now, I'm going to cook..yes, I am telling you a story.' Yet, it brings out some lessons. I really like!
I Love You Sweet Baby. The whole thing, music and the lyrics, is totally different from others!
Now, Adam Green:
Jessica. Both of them, Adam Green and Kimya Dawson, do have the sense of humour. I just can't help smiling when listening to their songs.
Dance With Me.
Nat King Cole.
What can I say? They are genius. Is that exaggeration? But I really love their music. I know I am too late to discover.
Anyway, there are much more, check them out! Unfortunately I can't share all of them, too many!! I've just spent my whole night clicking on their videos last night.
There is always one saying: "人生就像一场戏" - Life is like a movie. But for me, life is not only like a movie, it could be like as many different kind of movies as you want.
Talking about movie, soundtracks are so important to a movie. It's very... I don't know what words I should use to describe the importance of soundtracks. Without soundtracks, I think many movies would lose its spirits. Without soundtracks, I don't think we will still cry for romance movies. Etc. And since life is like movies, I do think soundtracks/musics are important in our life. Maybe I sound a little bit insane, but I really like soundtracks because it makes me feel like I am living in the movie, it makes me feel like I am one of the characters. And I could actually be as many different kinds of character as I want by listening to different kind of soundtracks. For example, by listening to It's Complicated soundtrack, I feel like I am the woman in the movie who can cook well and have her own house with children, although I don't wanna be divorced like her. But yes, I feel happier for doing the house chore when listening to its soundtrack.
Anyways, today I finally discover a film composer Hans Zimmer. Alright, I am outdated, but I am really happy to find out this composer because I can live in movies now! :D
Here are some soundtracks by Hans Zimmer which I think are pretty good and can lead us to a good living.
my goodness, its so rare to find me listening to chinese music and love it! not only that! my eyes and nose went red when listening the song and the lyrics... so touching and it was like, Liu Ruo Ying was singing to me. (persasan again- sorry Ms Liu and Ms Gilbert! hahahaha...) i heard this song when i was at my grandpa's house, the tv was playing its mtv and the simplicity of Liu Ruo Ying's wardrobe caught my eye. then i paid attention to the music and found the lyrics resonated strongly with my heart. and then i forgot about it until i heard it on the radio just now. when i reached home, i stayed in the car, with the engine dead, but the radio still playing this song. thank you Liu Ruo Ying for this song.
actually, Angela Aki was the original singer who sang this song.
thank you to both for such beautiful and touching song....
Initially, they shared information about art/movie/photography/design/fashion/music/etc...through offline messages in MSN. They then started a new blog just for personal sharing between themselves and to keep track of the information they shared. However, not knowing if there are any other "artsy-stuff-lovers" like them outside their pool of friends, they made their blog public so anyone who loves what they love can enjoy it together.
